Mei Zhan is a Chinese-born violinist and chamber musician, First Prize Winner of the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition.
Born and raised in Shenyang, China, Mei made her debut as a soloist with the Liaoning Symphony at the age of 11. She received a full scholarship to study with Almita Vamos at the Music Institute of Chicago, and subsequently attended the Idyllwild Arts Academy. She studied with Aimée Kreston at the Colburn Music Academy, where she was a member of the Ed and Mari Edelman Chamber Music Institute’s Honors Quartet. While studying at Colburn Music Academy, she was part of the Colburn Community Engagement Program where she taught and performed with talented children. As a founding member of the Incendium quartet, Mei Zhan has toured in the United States with the quartet. Mei has been invited to the Sierra Summer Festival Orchestra, Aspen Music Festival, Encore Chamber Music Festival, Sommermusik Im Oberen Nagoldtal, Chautauqua Music Festival, Heifetz International Music Institute and Yellow Barn Summer Festival, and has attended masterclasses including Shmuel Ashkenasi, Martin Beaver, Midori, Mark Steinberg, and the Juilliard String Quartet. in 2017 and 2018, Mei participated in the Yellow Barn Music Festival as a chamber musician. As a chamber musician, Mei has also performed multiple concerts and venues in the United States including the opening concert at Chamber Music Amarillo.
Mei Zhan has also performed with the Liaoning Symphony, Shenzhen Symphony, Pacific Symphony, Pasadena Symphony and Pops, Xi Chen, Siqing lv, Michael Kannen, Amit Peled and Vadim Gluzman. Mei Zhan is a founding member of Sempre Trio and Vechi Ensemble who has performed across the United States. Mei Zhan is actively playing within the Hollywood recording industry. Mei Zhan currently plays regularly with Pasadena Symphony and Pops as a section violinist.

Mei Zhan graduated from Colburn Academy, Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University and the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University. Her teachers include Almita Vamos, Aimée Kreston, Violaine Melançon and Paul Kantor.

Mei Zhan currently lives in Orange County, taking students from Irvine, Orange County and Greater Los Angeles Area.
